A three-legged dog

I saw a three-legged dog today.  Yes...three legs.  It was a sad sight.  At first.  Then I realized this dog was like any other dog.  In fact this dog probably didn't realize it had a problem.  Perhaps he wasn't the one with a problem...I was.  Well, let me back up.  I simply felt sorry for the dog.  I know what it is like to have physical disabilities that prevent me from living life "normally".  I think everyone has .  The beauty of this dog is that he seemed unaware of what normal was.  He had created a new normal for himself.  He seemed happy to be able to be walked around by his owner enjoying the cool breezes of the morning.  He appeared quite content to jump around on his two front legs and his back left one.  It made me thankful for my two legs and the fact that I was able to get out and walk my garbage to the dumpster without any help from others.  I think too often in life I have allowed a disability or sideline from life to throw my attitude in a frenzy.  Like the dog, when things in life aren't going as we plan we need to look to God for guidance and encouragement and pray for strength and endurance for the patience to get stronger so that we can get "back to normal" or help us to learn a "new normal".  Sometimes I think God takes away so that He can replace and gift us with something better than what we had before.  It often takes us a while to see the silver lining but when we find it it shines like gold.  So here is to the three-legged!  May we all learn to adapt, better ourselves, and be content when life throws us off balance.
